It helps to know a good plummer. And if you’re reading this, you’re in luck. This week we’re bringing you sweet, juicy Empress Plums from Klein’s Kill Fruit Farm. Delicious raw or cooked, these plums go great in fruit salads, puddings, ice creams – you name it. The flavor on this tender, late-summer fruit simply can’t be beat. Plums are also nutritional powerhouses, boasting high levels of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and fiber.

Did you know plums are in the stone fruit family and are close relatives of cherries, peaches, and apricots? And while peaches are usually the darlings of summer, let’s all show a little love for the under-appreciated but incredibly tasty plum. Our favorite way to enjoy plums is to snack on them (morning, noon, and night!). You could go the more involved route and elevate their flavors in a light, refreshing salad like this one. Just cook your beets and peppers in the oven and top with fresh plums and tomatoes. Voila!
