As summer winds down, we find ourselves reflecting on all of the delicious locally grown fruits and vegetables that this season has provided us with. We’ve already bid adieu to blueberries, strawberries, and cherries, but we’re not ready to say farewell to field-grown tomatoes just yet! In fact, we’ll be savoring this week’s delicious grape tomatoes – which are basically summer in a bite – for as long as we can.
Delicious raw or cooked, these grape tomatoes are perfect in salads, pastas, homemade sauces, or just eaten by the handful. You can substitute them for cherry tomatoes in any recipe, though they are generally smaller and a bit less sweet. They also typically have thicker skin than cherry tomatoes (just be sure not to tell any cherry tomatoes we said that!).
If you’re looking for a quick and easy recipe, look no further. This recipe for roasted grape tomatoes is one of our favorites, and it requires only five simple ingredients: grape tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
