It’s So Sweet Corn

This week’s frozen sweet corn, like all our frozen produce, is harvested during the growing season from our farms and then travels close by to The Farm Bridge in Kingston, NY for their special flash freezing process. The Farm Bridge uses Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) technology to ensure we get the highest quality frozen product. IQF involves tossing prepped veggies on a conveyor belt and passing them through the freezer.

Because each individual piece of produce — each floret of broccoli or kernel of corn — is frozen on its own, there is never a big ice block of produce. That means thawing is quick and easy! Unlike other frozen produce, there isn’t the excess moisture that diminishes texture and flavor.

The handy boil-in-the-bag pouch means you can drop the bag o’ sweet corn in boiling water for 10 minutes, and then empty into a bowl and add butter…just like summer. We figured it wouldn’t hurt to also give you some inspirational sweet corn recipe suggestions…
