HUDSON RIVER VENTURES, FIELD GOODS ANNOUNCE EXPANDED PRODUCTION
Access to Local, Sustainable Produce to Grow Due to Partnership
Aug. 26, 1014 (Kingston, NY)– Field Goods, an Athens-based firm whose mission is to pair businesses and their employees with produce and other healthy foods from local farms, today announced a new partnership with Hudson River Ventures. The investment from HRV will accelerate the growth of Field Goods, which already has 15 employees and works with 60 different local farms.
“This investment is about more than just capital,” said Donna Williams, founder of Field Goods. “Together with Hudson River Ventures, Field Goods will be growing our marketing and production operations, and expanding to take on new accounts. This investment means we can grow, creating more Hudson Valley jobs and bringing healthy local produce to a wider audience.”
“Field Goods currently serves hundreds of people by bringing local produce directly to dozens of businesses,” Hudson River Ventures President Sean Eldridge said. “Donna and her team are supporting both producers and consumers, essentially bringing the farmers market into an office environment. It’s an innovative approach to a critical problem, and HRV is happy to be a part of their growth.”
Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk said, “Creating new relationships and bringing together investors and local businesses is an important part of my economic development and job creation goals. Field Goods assists local farms and helps them grow, and Hudson River Ventures has provided incredible support to local businesses and our regional economy. I’m very pleased to have brought them together and helped create this new, dynamic business relationship that will benefit my constituents.”
Field Goods currently distributes products from over 60 farms from Orange County to Clinton County, New York. The majority of these are in the Hudson Valley. One of these farmers, Martin Stosiek of Markristo Farms a Certified-Organic farm Columbia County, said “Field Goods is a terrific partner. Their success has enabled me to expand our own production in order to meet their growing demand. We feel a great satisfaction knowing that Markristo Farm’s organically grown produce is ending up in the hands of more local folks, helping the economy and the environment as a whole.”
Businesses introduce employees to Field Goods as part of their wellness programs. Employees subscribe to a weekly delivery of local produce. The produce is selected from farms by Field Goods and delivered to employees at their workplace. In this way, Field Goods helps people make a commitment to healthy eating and local agriculture. Field Goods is currently partnering with Sage College of Troy, New York, on a study about the overall impact their business has on employee health.
In May, the Ulster/Greene ARC, an organization dedicated to providing meaningful jobs for developmentally disabled adults, named Field Goods its first ever Employer of the Year. Field Goods is committed to helping the communities in which it operates, and to growing jobs in the Hudson Valley.
“Field Goods embraced the opportunity to utilize us as a resource and the relationship has blossomed,” said Ulster-Greene ARC Executive Director John McHugh. “The individuals we referred for employment have proven to be competent and reliable employees, and their self-esteem has increased as a result of their employment at Field Goods. For these reasons, we are proud to select Field Goods as the inaugural recipient of our Employer of the Year Award.”
“The growth of Field Goods is one of the great success stories of the Ulster and Greene region,” Eldridge added. “Hudson River Ventures is going to help them grow, and in so doing, improve the health and economy of the Hudson Valley.”
